Shop rate is $45.00 per hour FLAT… There is a $5.00 "BENCH FEE" for the first hour. THIS is for solder, wire, shrink wrap, tape, sandpaper, etc. – After all, I HAFTA PAY FOR IT TOO ! ! ! – LOL If it takes me a little longer than I give ya on an estimate, I usually diss it, or will CONTACT YOU to approve additional charges – This holds true for PARTS as well, and I ALWAYS include your old parts unless a trade-in has been previously been approved – We PRIDE OURSELVES at HONESTY and INTEGRITY here at Doc’s – I AUTOMATICALLY put up 5% of ALL SALES AND PARTS FUNDS into a SLUSH FUND for our younger, financially challenged shredders – I KNOW ONLY TOO WELL the HASSLE of trying to play a guitar that the action is set on like HIGH TENSION WIRES, and how FRUSTRATING it is for a beginning player to try and learn on a CRAPPY SETUP OR GUITAR – I have been known to provide parts, service, and EVEN ENTIRE GUITARS – FREE OF CHARGE to someone that has that BURNING DESIRE TO PLAY and can’t afford it – {Now…ALL you OLDER GUYS – FORGET ABOUT IT ! ! ! – WE have REAL JOBS and can AFFORD TO PAY – It’s just HELL for the kids to try to have service done on guitars that they SAVE FOREVER to just get ! ! ! ! }
A typical Floyd Rose setup will run you $50.00 {If you provide the strings – Otherwise add $5.00}, which INCLUDES a COMPLETE stripdown of the guitar, cleaning and oiling of the fretboard, a LIGHT polish of the frets and MINOR adjustment of the neck {If your neck looks like our Dobie’s hind leg or is SEVERELY bowed or backbowed, it will run MORE}
- On the BUSINESS END, we restring the guitar, clean, lubricate and adjust the height and float the Floyd, and adjust the action to your liking {Our SPECIALTY is DOWN AND DIRTY LOOOOW, LOOOOW ACTION ! ! !…If your neck is not TRASHED, I can usually get action at LESS THAN 1/16″ with NO STRING BUZZ ! ! ! !} and we TRY to get the INTONATION as CLOSE as we can as well { If it’s REALLY WACKED, it MAY run more } and pickup height is also adjusted as well…What you will have when we are done {God willing} is a guitar that SHREDS LIKE A BANSHEE! ! ! and plays EFFORTLESSLY – You SHOULD be able to fret your Metal Monster with YER EYELASHES, and a GOOD SETUP USUALLY INCREASES YOUR SPEED AS WELL ! ! ! – If you’re in town, we ask that you bring the guitar back in 10 days or so at NO CHARGE for a FINE TUNING as well.
Various OTHER work, such as rewiring, serious fret polishes and fretwork and all OTHER WORK will be AT THE ESTIMATED COST unless we contact you – NO PEARL HARBOR SNEAK ATTACKS HERE ! ! ! !I generally try to keep my work at or below my estimate, even if I have to take a bath on it, so it will either come in at estimate or you’ll be pleasantly surprised…And ALL OUR WORK is GUARANTEED TO PLEASE YOU {Electronics work for AS LONG AS YOU OWN THE GUITAR ! ! } – We PRIDE OURSELVES in using ONLY U.S. MADE SWITCHCRAFT jacks, pots switches, etc. whenever available.
Keep in mind this is a custom paint shop and although priced reasonably custom work is NOT CHEAP. If you want cheap go to Earl Shieb’s or grab a rattle can and go to town.

During the time that I’ve been building and repairing guitars, the subject of PAINT has been a challenge…I shoot a fair paintjob myself, and have the equipment…Problem is – I wear TOO MANY HATS here…While my paint jobs are adequate {well…BETTER than ADEQUATE – LOL}, I’ve generally shot in stuff like acrylic enamel and the likes…While this is FINE for cars, I’ve found that it SIGNIFICANTLY changes the TONE on solid body guitars, and AFTER ALL, TONE is the NAME OF THE GAME…In moving to the OTHER end of the spectrum, I can go to Lee Garver, Dan Lawrence, and our BUDDIES at GMW for an AWESOME paint job, but $500.00 for a one tone job all the way UP TO $2000.00 for a KILLER portrait-like graphic is a LITTLE STEEP for us average Metalheads…BUT…FEAR NOT ! ! !…I believe that I have found a HAPPY MEDIUM…
A VERY CAPABLE painter that does EXCELLENT work at REASONABLE PRICES in Brad Sandau at Wolfgang’s Guitar Emporium in Washington State…Brad does a LOT of stuff for us, and MOST ALL of the other stuff…His work is EXCELLENT and TIMELY and he DOES NOT NUKE the POCKETBOOK with his rates…PLEASE CONTACT ME for rates and times…Brad can shoot in ANY medium, but I am PARTICULARLY IMPRESSED with his work with Nitrocellulose Stringed Instrument Lacquer…It is used on finer violins, guitars and the like, and allows for the NATURAL TONE of the wood to play through… PLEASE contact me with your paint ideas for a quote, as with our METAL MONSTERS, the SKY IS THE LIMIT ! ! !
Additionally, I have recently added the services of TWO GRAPHIC ARTISTS to the mix here at Doc’s… One is located here in the Mile High City, and is IMMENSLY talented and has done LOTS of graphic work NATIONALLY, and I have a young lady in Florida that I am VERY IMPRESSED with her work as well… E-mail or call for quotes on that special graphic !!!!!
